Thrilled to share with you our virtual choir performance of Desiderata by Jonathan Reid, commissioned by Voices of the Valley. Huge thanks to Nick Williams for producing this project for us, and also to our singers, who worked hard to make this happen.
Go placidly through noise and haste, Remember peace may lie in silence. Speak truth quietly and clearly; Listen to others, they too have their story. Some are greater. Some are lesser. Do not compare yourself. Be yourself. Take kindly the counsel of the years, Surrender youth with grace. Think not on dark imaginings, Fears are born from loneliness. Be gentle with yourself. You have a right to be here. You are a child of the universe, No less than trees and stars. Therefore, be at peace with God. Find rest in all of life's confusion. With all its broken dreams, It's still a beautiful world. Be at peace. --Max Ehrmann, Alt., Jonathan Reid |

The Voices of the Valley Children’s Chorus is BACK in person! Starting Monday, October 5, 2020, in person rehearsals will resume on the 4th floor of the RiverCenter parking garage. A free concert is offered on Monday, December 14, 2020 at 7:00 in the same location.
Voices of the Valley began the semester virtually with each choir participating in choral coaching, musicianship skills, and choir connections activities via Zoom. For the last 2 months, VOV singers have submitted singing assignments using My Choral Coach and musicianship assignments using Breezin’ Thru Theory to prepare for virtual rehearsals. The most current research on singing and COVID-19 provide a framework to safely conduct outdoor in person rehearsals. All VOV singers and staff will wear masks, socially distance, and limit “active singing” to 30 minute blocks followed by breaks of silence. The conductors will utilize Zoom for singers who still require virtual rehearsal. |
